Rush

Every girl on campus wants a bid from Sigma Epsilon Chi. Ana never asked for one.

Sigma Epsilon Chi is the oldest sorority on campus, with the grandest house, the prettiest sisters, and the most exclusive bids. Ana Chandra never planned to rush. Then the invitation appears on her pillow, sealed in red wax, inside a locked room.

She tells herself she'll go to one tea. She stays for the candlelit pledge night. She can't remember walking back to her dorm, and she can't stop dreaming about the house on the hill: the sisters in a circle, the book with no title, the cup passed hand to hand.

The girls of Sigma Epsilon Chi don't choose pledges. They choose offerings. By the time Ana understands what the black arts of sisterhood demand, she's already wearing their pin.

They promised sisterhood. They delivered her flesh.
